Dom Jay has been at the forefront of the SW dance scene for nearly two decades.

Committed to vinyl, and as such Dom Jay is often the only DJ on the bill to play 100% wax! Feedback from the likes of Radio 1’s Mista Jam (Twitter Jan 2011) have commentated on the versatility Dom Jay displays using vinyl and the live effects and scratch madness that adds a different and crowd pleasing dimension.

A snapshot in time....

Under the DJ Pulse guise Dom Jay was fortunate to have played regularly at the legendary Plymouth Warehouse in the heady 92-94 rave era. Dom Jay was heavily involved in promotion, initially with Crystal Clear and then Club Speed – both of which will hold firm memories for many in the SW.

In 2000 Dom Jay (as Dom J) set up Synthetic which then became the longest running monthly hardcore event in SW. Working alongside the legendary Premonition promoter, the next 6/7 years witnessed some of the most memorable events in the region.

Local Freesound FM radio shows featured throughout 2006-08 and Dom Jay was the first DJ to play out UK Hardcore and Gabba on FM Radio in the SW!

Throughout the nineties and noughties Dom Jay continued to play Drum & Bass and Breaks (including the legendary Coast breaks events), but mainly became well known for his hardcore & techno sets. In 2008, after a wonderful time at the forefront of the regional hardcore scene he decided to go out on top (Winning D&C Hardcore DJ Award that year). Having been fortunate enough to have played regularly alongside the likes of Sy, Slipmatt, Ratpack, Hixxy, Darren Styles, Dougal it was time to move on and return to his breakage roots.

In 2009 Dom Jay put together the Synthetic Breakz record label of which the first release was played by Kutski on Radio 1!

Having been passionately involved with Drum & Bass since 1994 and having built an extensive vinyl collection (over 8000 and counting!), Dom Jay concentrated in a different arena from which he was publically known for. Gaining credibility from the outset by starting at the bottom, Dom Jay quickly established himself as a well respected SW D&B DJ. Now recognised as one of the most versatile local DJ’s, you will often find D&B, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Breaks, Old Skool and more in a typical Dom Jay set.

Once again Dom Jay finds himself now fortunate to have played alongside such headliners as Roni Size, Chase & Status, Pendulum, Dillanja, Nero, Brookes Bros, Hype, Nicky Blackmarket, Logistics, MistaJam, Aquasky and many more.
